Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is a procedure where diamond tipped heads or fine Alum Oxide crystals, usually driven by airflow are used to abrade the skin. It offers a precise, non-invasive means of skin exfoliation that is progressive rather than aggressive and, it is also a simple and speedy procedure that produces immediate results.
This painless abrasion gently removes dead skin cells, which, at the same time are gently vacuumed away into the crystal cylinders or filters thus eliminating cross contamination. Simultaneously, the procedure stimulates cell renewal and the synthesis of Collagen, Elastin and Fibroblast, normally resulting in an immediate, enhanced skin appearance.
With its controlled and precise exfoliation benefits are visible from the first treatment for:
Sun damaged or aged skin
Acne & acne scarring
Fine lines & wrinkles
Congested / dull skin
Pigmentation
Open pores
Thickened Skin
Improved circulation
Scar tissue reduction
Increased cell regeneration
What to expect during a treatment?
A Microdermabrasion treatment with a diamond head feels like sanding or scratching of the skin. The grit grade and level of the skin in contact with the Diamond Head initiates the exfoliation process.
The level of this process will depend upon:
Skin type
Condition & nature of the problem
The forehead may, due to the nature of its make-up prove to be a slightly more sensitive area

• Skin type
• The state and nature of the problem
The forehead, due to its nature, may prove to be a slightly more sensitive area.
What to expect after the treatment?
The skin will have the sensation of mild wind or sunburn and may have an associated redness. This is normal. The wind / sun burn sensation will, depending on the level of treatment conducted, last for approximately 48hrs, as will the associated redness. Make-up can be applied an hour after treatment. To protect the new skin from unnecessary sun damage, it is important that a minimum of SPF30 + be used daily thought-out the course of the Microdermabrasion program and reapplied at the manufacturers recommended intervals.
Client 'Home Care'
It is important the client undertakes a 'home care' program. Avoiding over exposure to the sun along with the application of the necessary sun protection, is vital. The new skin needs to be protected from the ravages of free radicals and sun damage.
Maintenance Program
Each maintenance program will differ from client to client dependent upon the skin type, conditions etc. However, it is recommended that the client have a ‘top-up’ treatment every 4-6 weeks.
